Trinity Industries is an American industrial group based in Dallas . It produces freight wagons , gas tanks, barges for inland navigation, crash barriers and masts for wind turbines . With 34,295 freight cars produced, Trinity has a market share of 41% in North America. Since acquiring Big River Industries , Trinity has also been manufacturing expanded clay (building material and aggregate for concrete) under the Riverlite brand .

Of the 22,000 employees (as of 2015), 11,500 work in the USA and 10,500 in Mexico.

history

Trinity Industries was founded in 1958 when the Dallas Tank Company merged with the Trinity Steel Company . The company was headed from 1958 to 1999 by W. Ray Wallace, the father of the current CEO. He turned the manufacturer of liquid gas tanks into a diversified large company. In 1977 the company started producing freight wagons.

1983 Trinity Industries took over the freight wagon works of the Pullman-Standard Car Manufacturing Company . In 1987 the company Ortner Freight Car and 2001 Thrall Car Manufacturing was taken over.
