(2116) Mtskheta ( 1976 UM ; 1929 RM 1 ; 1933 OM ; 1949 KP ; 1950 TC 2 ; 1952 BN 1 ; 1975 VB 2 ; 1977 DE ) is an asteroid of the main middle belt that was discovered by Richard Martin West on October 24, 1976 was discovered at the La Silla Observatory .
designation
The asteroid was named after Mtskheta , the capital of Iberia , a predecessor state of today's Georgia . The state was located on the Kura and Aragwi rivers , the area is rich in architectural treasures.
