The Trochomorphidae are a family from the suborder of land snails (Stylommatophora). Currently, just over 100 species of the family have been described that are native to Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands.

features

The housings are trochiform to lenticular and of medium size. 4.5 to 8 turns are formed, the last passage being angled on the outside. The shell is more or less thick, but always relatively strong. The color varies from light to blackish; often with a darker band. The case is usually ornamented with a spiral, with spiral strips and knots of different sizes. Radial stripes are usually only weakly developed, only very rarely stronger. The mouth is usually flattened with pointed ends. It is usually not reinforced, more rarely with transverse parietal lamellae and basal and palatal lamellae. The navel is almost always open, but varies from small and narrow to very wide. The navel is closed in only one genus. The crawler shoe is mostly undivided, only the Eurybasis has a three-part crawler shoe . The rear end of the creeper with the mucous gland and caudal horn. In the genital apparatus, the spermatic duct penetrates apically into the epiphallus. A short flagellum may be present. The inner wall of the penis often has a pilaster structure. The free fallopian tube usually has a perivaginal gland. The vagina, on the other hand, has no accessory organs. The spermatheque is developed differently in shape.

Geographical distribution

The species of the family are common in Southeast Asia, Northern Australia, New Guinea, most of the tropical Pacific islands, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, but they are absent in Hawaii.
