Trojan is the brand name for condoms made by the Church & Dwight Company. About 69% of condoms sold in the United States are Trojan branded condoms. This means that Trojan has a market share that is more than four times that of Durex (approx. 15%).

Trojan USA

At the beginning of the 20th century, the so-called American Comstock laws (prohibition of the sale of condoms outside of pharmacies) gave the Trojan brand a kind of monopoly position in the USA, as the laws made it extremely difficult for competitors to enter the market. This monopoly began to weaken in the 1970s as a result of the Sexual Revolution . Competitor Durex in particular is currently actively trying to attack Trojan's hegemony in the American condom market (annual sales around $ 430 million). Even so, Trojan's budget invested in television advertising and other marketing programs is approximately $ 33.6 million, more than 26 times that of competitor Durex. This also explains why the market shares have not changed significantly in the last 6 years (Trojan 2006 approx. 70.5% to 2012 approx. 69%; Durex 2012 approx. 15%).

Trojan Europe

While Trojan is the undisputed market leader in the USA, the situation in Europe is very different. Trojan is not currently available in all European countries, e.g. B. Germany , present. In the UK , Trojan entered the market in 2003. Free condoms were distributed in taxis under the motto "Safe Ride Home". Nevertheless, Trojan was only able to conquer a market share of approx. 2% compared to its competitor Durex with approx. 83%.

The sports were based on sexual performance mixed with classic sports. As of November 2006, the various "Trojan Games" videos have been viewed over 300 million times.
