Tronc, Inc. ( spelling tronc ; formerly Tribune Publishing ) is an American media company. Tronc publishes a number of daily newspapers and operates tabloid online news services. The group was spun off from Tribune Media in 2014 and, like this one, is based in Chicago , Illinois .

To Troncs portfolio large and traditional US newspapers are like the Chicago Tribune , the New York Daily News , the Hartford Courant , the Orlando Sentinel , Sun-Sentinel of Fort Lauderdale and The Baltimore Sun . In addition, a number of local daily newspapers are published, most of which belong to the publishing groups of the major newspapers in the Tronc portfolio.

Today's Tronc goes back to the traditional Tribune Company . Formed in 1847 with the Chicago Tribune , Tribune Publishing worked as part of the Tribune Company. In August 2014 the Tribune Publishing was transferred to its own company and has been called tronc (" Tr ibune on line c ontent") since summer 2016 .
