media

The Trotskyist Faction publishes the theoretical journal International Strategy, with editions in Spanish , French and German .

origin

The origin of the Trotskyist faction is in Argentina, where in 1988 a group of around 600 members was expelled from the Morenist movement towards socialism MAS . The MAS had an electoral alliance with the CP, against which an opposition was formed. It was of the opinion that the events in the USSR and Eastern Europe as a whole called for sharp criticism of Stalinism . Among those excluded were four members of the Central Committee, of whom Emilio Albamonte and Hugo Ramirez still belong to the Trotskyist faction and PTS , and a representative in the LIT International Secretariat, Leon Perez .

The excluded initially took on the name of the International Bolshevik Group (IBF) and saw themselves as an “external faction” that was wrongly excluded. From 1988 to 1990 the PTS suffered three divisions. First some of the members returned to the MAS. Then a group politically joined the British Workers Revolutionary Party-Workers Press . Eventually, Leon Perez's supporters separated from the PTS to pursue a mass party perspective.

These disputes reduced the PTS to around 150 members at the beginning of 1992, but led to the necessary political and ideological clarifications. Around this time, groups in Chile and Mexico declared their support for the PTS, which is where the Trotskyist faction originated. These three groups initially adopted the common name Internationalist Group (IF) . In 1995 the membership of the PTS reached 350 again.

Ideological foundations

The Trotskyist faction has since broken with Morenism and criticizes its surrender to left- wing Peronism in the 1970s. The political-theoretical delimitation culminated in 1995 in the article Notes for a history of Argentine Trotskyism by Hugo Ramirez and Pablo Cortina in the Estrategia Internacional .
