The Trud Stadium is a football stadium in the Russian city of Tomsk . It has space for 15,000 spectators and serves as the home ground for the Tom Tomsk club .

history

The Trud Stadium in Tomsk , a city with about 500,000 inhabitants in the West Siberian Oblast Tomsk , was built in 1929. Since 1957 it has served the local football club Tom Tomsk as a venue for home games. Since the club played for many years in the second and third tier leagues of Soviet and early Russian football, the equipment in the Trud Stadium remained modest. Until 2005 there were no permanently installed toilets and the stadium was almost defenseless against the Siberian snowfall.

In 2005 some of these conditions changed, because in this year Tom Tomsk rose for the first time in his history to the Premjer-Liga , the highest Russian football league. In order to meet the basic standards of top division football, considerable renovation work was required on the Trud Stadium. Modern toilets were built in. In order to keep the play area playable even at sub-zero temperatures, a turf heating system was installed. The audience capacity of the Trud Stadium was increased to 15,000 after the stadium was previously considerably smaller. The grandstands remained uncovered.

These measures were entirely justified, because Tom Tomsk managed to establish himself in Russia's elite league. As a promoted team they finished in the Premjer-Liga 2005 a secure tenth place in the table and the relegation was not a danger in the following years. Only in 2012 did you have to accept relegation to the second highest division. It succeeded the immediate return to the Premjer League, but with a subsequent relegation, so that games of the second Russian football league are currently being played in the Trud Stadium.
