Trudi Dicks

Trudi Dicks (* 1940 in Graaff-Reinet , South Africa ) is a Namibian artist . She has lived and worked in Namibia since 1967 .

Trudi Dicks is known, among other things, for her abstract graphic studies and large-framed sculptures , which mainly focus on her African homeland and the nature of the people there. Although she only published her first works as an artist in the mid-1980s, she is now one of the most famous artists in Namibia. She has received several awards and grants for her work. Her works were exhibited at the Johannesburg Biennale in 1995 , among others .

Together with other African artists, she took part in the ArtWorks for AIDS project in 2000 , in which works by contemporary artists were auctioned for charitable purposes on the occasion of the International AIDS Conference in the USA . Most of her sculptures are part of private collections in Europe and South Africa .
