Truth (Engl. For truth ) is a song of Azerbaijani singer Chingiz and the competition entry the country to the Euro Vision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv in Israel . The song was sung as the last contribution in the second semifinals on May 16, 2019 and qualified for the final, where it reached eighth place with 302 points.
Music and lyrics
It is in Truth a Radiopopsong. The chorus was with Homemade Dynamite by Lorde compared. Songwriter Boris Milanov described him as an "authentic mixture of Western and Azerbaijani musical styles". Milanov was enthusiastic about Chingiz's interpretation. The lyrics are about the phases of separation in a dishonest and poisoned relationship, in which one partner cheats on the other - with which the cheated person has to live or say goodbye to false illusions. The lyrics read: "Drink till I forget / She's on to the next / And when the ghost starts screaming / Right when they resonate / Hear my heart confess".

The song was written by Boris Milanov, Trey Campbell, Bo J, Pablo Dinero, Hostess and Chingiz. It was Azerbaijan's entry to the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest after Chingiz was internally selected by Azerbaijani state television. In the music video, the singer is shown swimming under water, among other things. Chingiz also means sea or ocean.
Publication and reception
The song was presented to the public on March 8, 2019 and was also released as a single. Laut.de called the song "a pretty boring radio pop number". “Although technically clean and hit-oriented, the spark doesn't want to jump over at all.” For ARD , Truth is “a modern, contemporary pop song that could be played on any radio station.” The bookmakers counted the song among their favorites.
Song contest
In the semi-final draw, Azerbaijan was drawn into the second semi-final on May 16, 2019; Chingiz listed Truth 18th and last, finishing fifth with 224 points. In the final he then appeared in 20th place and reached seventh place with 297 points. After correcting the scores three days later, he slipped to eighth place. His score was corrected to 302.
