Choidschin Lama Temple Museum
The Choidschin Lama Temple Museum ( Mongolian Чойжин ламын сүм музей ) is a former monastery and temple area of Mongolian-Tibetan Buddhism in the center of Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia .
The complex, built between 1904 and 1908, was the former seat of the protector Choidschin (Choijin, actually Lobsang Hoi Do), the younger brother of Bogd Khan . After 1911, Choijin became the official state oracle , which from then on proclaimed revelations and prophecies in the Choidschin Lama Temple.
The complex was badly damaged during the Stalinist terror in Mongolia in the 1930s and now consists of five restored temples with collections of religious items. The holdings include a larger collection of Cham dance masks . In the main temple you can see the mummy of the Baldanchoimbel, the teacher of the Chojdschin Lama.
