Vollrath Friedrich Maximilian Bogislav von Hellermann (born May 18, 1900 in Ratzeburg , † August 25, 1971 in Munich ) was a German officer , most recently Major General of the Wehrmacht in World War II .

Life

After seven years in the cadet corps (1914–1921) Hellermann studied law in Göttingen . After working for the Corps Saxonia (1921-1924) he joined the 6th (Prussian) cavalry regiment in Pasewalk on March 1, 1924 as a volunteer . On July 1, 1925, he was appointed Fahnenjunker there . For half a year, from March 1, 1926, he was assigned to the first course at the Infantry School in Dresden and from November 5, 1926 to August 26, 1927, to the second course at the Hanover Cavalry School . Following this, Hellermann became a lieutenant on December 1, 1927 . From May 1, 1935 Rittmeister , at the outbreak of World War II, he was adjutant of the 5th Army , which was converted into the 18th Army a little later . From October 1, 1944 Major General, he was and remained Inspector General for the officers and non-commissioned officers in the Army High Command , known as Inspector General for the Young Leaders. From May 8, 1945 to March 1947, he was a prisoner of war with the Allies . After the war he was a co-founder and first chairman of the Society for Military Studies in Munich from 1952 to 1956 .

From 1929 he was with Luise geb. Müller-Kulenkampff married.
