Tsugumasa Muraoka

Tsugumasa Muraoka ( Japanese 村 岡 嗣 政 , Muraoka Tsugumasa ; born December 7, 1972 in Ube , Yamaguchi Prefecture ) is a Japanese politician and has been the governor of Yamaguchi since February 25, 2014 .

After graduating from the University of Tokyo School of Economics, Muraoka worked for the Ministry of Self-Government , a forerunner of what is now the Ministry of General Affairs , after graduating in 1996 . He worked, among other things, in the prefectural administrations of Hokkaidō and Kōchi , in the administration of the city ​​of Hiroshima and most recently in the department that is responsible for the finances of the local authorities (jichi-zaisei-kyoku) .

When the governor of his home prefecture, Shigetaro Yamamoto , resigned in January 2014 , Muraoka left the ministry to run for the early gubernatorial election in February 2014 . The Liberal Democratic Party and Kōmeitō supported his candidacy, he prevailed against two candidates with more than 60% of the vote.
