The Turn- und Sportunion Fußballclub Arnfels was an Austrian football club from Arnfels in Styria . The club played in the Regionalliga Mitte , the third highest level in Austria. The club colors were yellow and black. The main sponsor was the Graz- based construction company Schleich.

history

The association was founded on August 27, 1947. After a temporary end of the association after only one year, it was re-established on November 20, 1948. Since the 1951/1952 season, the club took part in the game operations of the Styrian Football Association. A dedicated U-15 youth team was only founded in 1971. The club rose to 1st class West for the first time in the 1980/81 season.

Disputes within the board ultimately led to relegation. Only in 1990/91 was it possible to move up to 1st class west. In the next year, the second place celebrated the renewed promotion, this time in the Lower League West.

In 1994/95 the most successful time of TuS FC Arnfels began when Karl Schleich joined the South Styrians as the main sponsor . With Mario Zuenelli , a former Austrian national player was signed as a player-coach. In the 1996/1997 season, the team rose to the Oberliga Graz / Southwest.

In 1999, Hans Kießner was hired as a coach. In the same year, the club managed unbeaten promotion to the Styrian regional league. In the same year a new sports field was built. In October 2001 the football club was spun off from the gymnastics and sports union. With third place in the first national league season, the club was able to qualify for the ÖFB Cup. Players like the former SK Sturm Graz stars Ranko Popovic , Jan-Pieter Martens and Tomislav Kocijan could be signed.

Right from the first Cup participation, the round of 16 was reached. Arnfels was eliminated from the GAK at home in front of 5,000 spectators. In the 2002/2003 game year the promotion to the regional league was fixed and the round of 16 in the ÖFB Cup was reached again, against the Austrian record champions Rapid Vienna was the end of the line.

In 2004, however, came the financial end for the regional league. Main sponsor and financier Karl Schleich resigned from his position as president after the club was unable to come to an agreement with the municipality of Arnfels about building a new stadium. Before the last game (a 4-1 win against FC Blau-Weiß Linz on June 4, 2004) , the president informed the team of the third place in the table of the Regionalliga Mitte about the planned dissolution of the club, which finally took place on July 25, 2004.

After that, TuS FC Arnfels provided various youth teams, but no more combat teams. Currently (season 2018/2019) the sports club from Leutschach an der Weinstrasse, renamed SU Rebenland, plays its games in the Oberliga Mitte West in Arnfels.
