The gymnastics and sports club Hoppstädten 1908 is a football club from Hoppstädten-Weiersbach in the Birkenfeld district . It was founded on February 1, 1908.

history

After its founding, the club first appeared as a gymnastics club. Football only appeared after the First World War . It should be reported that at the end of the 1920s, football was played in Gau classes as DJK Hoppstädten. In 1934 this organization was subordinated to the Reichsbund für physical exercises .

In 1928 the foundation stone for today's TuS sports field was laid with a large amount of voluntary work and an additional cost of RM 2,000 . Since the necessary funds for the necessary expansion of the venue were not available, the sports facility was only expanded to the necessary dimensions in 1954 and in 1966.

In 1945 some footballers got together and played a few friendly matches under the name Sportfreunde Hoppstädten-Weiersbach . This club was only approved as SV Hoppstädten at the end of 1947 and then officially took part in the 2nd district class Birkenfeld for the first time. In the season 1949/50 the championship could be won and one managed in the promotion games promotion to the 1st district class. This season was the first time that the club played in their own jerseys in the colors yellow / white and blue / black.

In 1956 the association was renamed TuS Hoppstädten. In 1961 the team was in the district cup final for the third time, which this time was successfully contested. The opponent SV Heimbach was defeated 3-0.

The club's greatest success was reaching the finals of the DFB Cup in 1992/93 as a district league team at the time. TuS Hoppstädten had lost the final in the Südwestpokal against Wormatia Worms with 0: 7. Since two clubs from the Southwest Regional Association were allowed to participate in the cup, the Hoppstadters were also qualified. After the club had a bye in the first round, they lost 3-0 to VfR Heilbronn in the second round in Birkenfeld .

With effect from July 1, 2013, TuS Hoppstädten merged with SV Weiersbach to form SG Hoppstädten-Weiersbach . The two clubs remained legally and economically independent clubs. This syndicate was dissolved at the end of the 2018/19 season.

The team has been playing in the Landesliga West since the 2018/19 season.
