Tuberos de Veracruz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tuberos de Veracruz is the common name of a former soccer team from Veracruz , which was affiliated with the company Tubos de Acero de México, SA , TAMSA for short. TAMSA is one of the world's largest producers of steel tubes.

history

The Club de Fútbol TAMSA first played in the then third-rate Tercera Division, which the Tuberos won in the 1975/76 season. The third division championship secured them promotion to the second-rate Segunda División , in which the Tuberos were represented in the following six seasons between 1976/77 and 1981/82. When the Tuberos relegated to the newly installed third-class Segunda División 'B' at the end of the 1981/82 season , the Tubos de Acero de México, SA sold the license of their soccer team to the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS). This transplanted the acquired team to Santa Cruz Tlaxcala , Tlaxcala , where the newly formed team spent the 1982/83 season in the Segunda División 'B'. Before the following season 1983/84, the team was transferred to Torreón , Coahuila , and was given the new name Santos Laguna .
