Tudorel Cristea (born April 22, 1964 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian football player . He played a total of 331 games in the Divizia A . In 1992 the midfielder won the Romanian championship with Dinamo Bucharest .

Career

Cristea started playing football at Steaua Bucharest at the age of eight . After going through all youth teams, he moved to Mecanică Fină Bucharest in Divizia B at the age of 18 . After relegation in 1983 , he stayed with the club and managed to get promoted again with his team. In 1984 he joined first division club FCM Brașov . When he was promoted he came in the 1984/85 season 23 times and secured with his club relegation.

In the summer of 1985 Cristea moved to the then top club Sportul Studențesc . In the 1985/86 season he was used in half of the games and finished the league as runner-up behind Steaua Bucharest . With the 1986/87 season he became a core force in midfield. From 1987 onwards, he and his team could no longer build on the performance of the first two years and mostly fought to stay in class.

During the winter break of 1990/91 Cristea Sportul left and joined Dinamo Bucharest . There he won his first title with the championship in 1992 . In the master’s year he only made 13 appearances. After playing for Progresul Bucharest in the 1992/93 season , he returned to Dinamo in the summer of 1993. There he was only used three times and moved to Royal Cappellen in the Belgian third division.

Cristea returned to Romania in the summer of 1994 and joined FC Naional Bucharest . A year later he returned to Sportul. There he was again a regular force and fought with his club to stay in the league. After relegation in 1997/98 , he stayed the club one league lower. In Divizia B he missed promotion twice with his team and ended his career in 2000.

National team

Cristea played nine games for the Romanian national team . For the first time he was nominated by the then national coach Mircea Lucescu in March 1986 for two friendlies against Iraq . On March 14, 1986 he came to his first game when he was substituted on at half-time for Nelu Stănescu . After another friendly against the Soviet Union on April 23, 1986, he was not considered for a year. On April 8, 1987 he returned under the new national coach Emerich Jenei , he came only to two short appearances in friendly matches. It then took almost two years before he came on against Poland on April 12, 1989, with 20 minutes remaining. The sporadic nominations continued. In the spring of 1990 he was used in two friendly matches over the full distance, but was not nominated by Jenei for the subsequent World Cup . On May 23, 1991, he played his last international match in the 1-0 defeat against Norway .
