Tudy
St. Tudy († 5th or 6th century in Brittany ) was a missionary and hermit . He is also called Tudi, Tudec, Tudinus, Tegwin or Thetgo. His feast day is May 9th (Roman Catholic) or May 11th. (orthodox).
Life
Tudy lived a life as a hermit on the Île de Groix and is said to have proselytized in Brittany as a companion of St. Corentin of Quimper , in whose biography he is mentioned. He is also called Tudy of Landevennec because he was a disciple of Saint Guénolé , who is said to have founded the Abbey of Landevennec , and is said to have succeeded him there as abbot. Later, Tudy is said to have founded a hermitage in Île-Tudy , which was later relocated to Loctudy as a monastery . The center of his veneration can be found there in the Finistère department in Brittany . Tudy may also have proselytized in Cornwall , where the parish church of St. Tudy is consecrated to him in the village of the same name . The patronage of the Church can also be traced back to the missionary work of Landévennec Abbey in Cornwall.
