Tufnell Park Underground Station
Tufnell Park is an underground station on the London Underground in the London Borough of Islington . It is located between the Archway and Kentish Town stations in the Travelcard tariff zone 2, at the intersection of the main roads Brecknock Road, Fortress Road and Junction Road. In 2013, 3.94 million passengers used this station served by the Northern Line on the junction to High Barnet .
The station was opened on June 22, 1907 by the then Charing Cross, Euston and Hampstead Railway . In 2004 the infrastructure company Tube Lines carried out a comprehensive modernization. The station building consists of red glazed terracotta bricks. The architect responsible was Leslie Green , under whose direction a total of 28 stations were built in the same style at the beginning of the 20th century. The platforms can be reached via two elevators followed by a short flight of stairs; there are no escalators .
