Tullibole Castle
Tullibole Castle is a tower house near the Scottish village of Crook of Devon in the Council Area Perth and Kinross . In 1971 the structure was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.
history
Already in the record of the English King Edward I from 1304 there is a note of a fortification in Tullibothville . In the same year he planned to build a castle in the vicinity of the village, but could not find a suitable location for this project. A charter confirms that the Tulliebole estate belonged to a Heron family in 1490 . In 1598 it passed to Hallidays . The oldest fragments of today's Tullibole Castle date from the 16th century. In 1608 it was expanded. In 1740 Tullibole Castle passed to Henry Wellwood-Moncreiff, 8th Baronet and has been in the family ever since. In 1956 the Tower House was restored.

Tullibole Castle is around 1.5 km east of the Crook of Devon. It is considered a well-preserved example of a laird house , which was essentially built in the 17th century. Its facades are plastered with Harl . In the inner corner of the four-story residential tower, a rounded stair tower with an internal spiral staircase emerges. Stepping eaves Ecktourellen out. An ornamented plate above the entrance door shows the year 1508 and shows the monograms “MIH” and “HO” The final, slate-covered roofs are designed with stepped gables . A kitchen is set up on the first floor. The hall with an open fireplace is on the second floor.
