The tulip tree in Harpstedt is a natural monument in the Oldenburg district in Lower Saxony .

The approximately 400 year old tulip tree with the Latin name Liriodendron tulipifera is a magnolia family from North America. It is located in the Official Freedom Park in Harpstedt and is open to the public. The vital tree is about 30 meters high and has grown slim. The trunk has a circumference of 4.95 meters and the crown diameter is about 37 meters. In May / June it blooms with deciduous leaves.

The date of planting is put between 1573 and 1619. The planting site is located in the pleasure garden of Count Anton II (1550–1619), the ruler of the county of Delmenhorst and the former bailiwick of Harpstedt.

Tulip tree blossom festival

Since 2012, the Harpstedt Transport and Beautification Association has been organizing the tulip tree blossom festival , which takes place annually on the area around the tree.
