Tunilla minuscula is a species of plant in the genus Tunilla from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Tunilla minuscula grows very low with dense shoots, some of which are sunk into the ground. The spherical to somewhat flattened, blue-green shoot segments are only very low humped, almost thornless and sometimes only 1 centimeter long. Initially there are up to two, later three to four thorns . The unequal, gray thorns are very thin, do not prick and reach a length of up to 3 centimeters.

Nothing is known about the flowers and fruits .

Distribution and systematics

Tunilla minuscula is found in northern Bolivia in the puna vegetation at altitudes of around 4000 meters. It was first described as Tephrocactus minusculus in 1936 by Curt Backeberg . In 2000 David Richard Hunt and James Iliff placed them in the genus Tunilla .
