The Rammersberg tunnel is a 1362 m long railway tunnel on the Nantenbacher bend in Bavaria . It crosses under the Rammersberg south of Gemünden am Main and therefore bears his name.

The tunnel takes up two tracks on a slab track , which can be driven on as planned at 200 km / h.

Location and course

The route of the 1362 m long structure describes a right curve in a southerly direction. The gradient rises continuously at 12.5 per mil. The structure penetrates layers of shell limestone .

history

The tunnel was built using shotcrete . Construction work began on September 1, 1991. The tunnel was driven from south to north in order to minimize the impact on a nature reserve at the north portal. A working group was commissioned . Inge Keller, the wife of the mayor of Karlstadt am Main , acted as tunnel sponsor .

After nine months of driving, the tunnel was knocked through as the last of the Nantenbacher curve.

The building was October 22, 1991 struck and June 23, 1992 by beaten . The structure was put into operation in 1994 as part of the Nantenbach curve.
