The Roßbacher Forst tunnel (sometimes also called the Rossbach tunnel ) is a 255 m long railway tunnel on the high-speed line Hanover – Würzburg . The building is located to the west of the Altengronau district of the Sinntal municipality in East Hesse . It is the southernmost tunnel on the line in Hesse .
The structure takes up two tracks on a ballast superstructure , which can be driven at speeds of up to 250 km / h as planned.
Location and course
To the north, after a short open section, the Altengronauer Forest Tunnel follows . To the south, also after an open section, is the Dittenbrunn hillside bridge .
Part of the Altengronau transfer point is located in the tunnel .
history
As one of three tunnels in the southern section of the new line, the tunnel was completed at the end of 1983.
The building was not planned for 1981.
The tunnel was opened for commercial traffic in 1988 as part of the Fulda – Würzburg section of the new line.
