The Porta Claudia Tunnel is a 959 meter long bypass tunnel around Scharnitz in Tyrol . It leads under the eastern flank of the Arntalköpfles, where the ruins of the Porta Claudia are located. The tunnel is part of the 2080 m long Scharnitz bypass project, which bypasses the town to the west.

The tunneling began on July 19, 2016, the breakthrough took place on December 13, 2016. On November 10, 2018, the Scharnitz bypass was ceremoniously opened. The construction costs for the tunnel amounted to 19 million euros, for the entire bypass including the Isar bridge, 34 million euros.

The tunnel connects the B2 on the German side with the B177 on the Austrian side and thus forms a further connecting tunnel to the European route 533 in the area between Eschenlohe (end of the German BAB 95 ) and Zirl on the Austrian A12 .
