Tupambaé is a city in eastern Uruguay .
geography
It is located in the Cuchilla Grande in the south of the Cerro Largo department in sector 8 on the border with the neighboring Treinta y Tres department . To the southwest lies the village of Esperanza , while Cerro Tupambaé is located a few kilometers north-northwest .
history
The name of the city comes from the Tupí-Guaraní . On August 19, 1926, Tupambaé was granted the status of " pueblo " by Law No. 7,984 .
Infrastructure
On the southern edge of Tupambaé, both a railway line and the Ruta 7 run along, at whose kilometer point 304 near Tupambaé there is an ANCAP filling station. There is also a Policlínica , a police station, a church and the Asociación Tupambaé Club . The Estadio Municipal "Juan A. Godiño" is a venue for sporting events.

Tupambaé has 1,122 inhabitants (as of 2011), of which 564 are male and 558 are female.
