The Turawa reservoir ( Jezioro Turawskie in Polish ) is a dam and is located northeast of the Upper Silesian city of Opole ( Opole in Polish ) in Poland . It is fed by the Mała Panew (Malapane) and Libawa rivers.
It has a capacity of 90 million m³, an area of approx. 20 km² and is a maximum of 13 m deep.
history
The reservoir was dug from 1933 to 1938 in what was then the district of Opole .
During the construction period, the area was archaeologically examined under the direction of the archaeologist G. Raschke and traces of late Roman settlements from the 3rd / 4th centuries were found. Founded in the 17th century AD.
Due to the construction, the following places, layers and farmsteads sank: Beatenhof, Zamoscie, Krzysline, Vorwerk Kuchara, Schrotmühle, Ledwigsmühle.
Surroundings
Are located in its immediate vicinity the villages Kotórz Wielki (Kotórz Wielki), Kotórz Mały (kotórz mały), Turawa , Marszałki (Marscholken) Rzędów (Friedrichsfelde) Dylaki (Dylaki) Jedlice (Jedlitze) Antoniów (Antonia), Szczedrzyk (Sczedrzik) and Niwki (Tempelhof). The town of Ozimek (German Malapane ) is located 5 km southeast of the lake.

The Turawa reservoir is now a recreation center with several campsites. The Polish name Jeziora Turawskie refers to the Turawa reservoir - (Duże) Jezioro Turawskie - as well as two small quarry ponds (Średnie Jezioro and Małe Jezioro), which were created as gravel pits during the construction of the reservoir.
