The Turbulence Bluffs ( English for turbulence cliffs ) are three steep and northwest-oriented cliffs in the East Antarctic Enderbyland . They tower 26 km northeast of Rayner Peak on the eastern flank of the Robert Glacier . Its southeast side merges into the Antarctic Ice Sheet .
Aerial photographs and surveys by the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions from 1954 to 1966 were used to map them. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the air turbulence that made landing here by helicopter difficult here in 1965 .
