Turmi is a village in the woreda Hamer Bena in the Debub Omo Zone (South Omo) in the region of the southern nations, nationalities and peoples in southern Ethiopia . Along with Dimeka, it is the largest settlement in the country of the Hamar ethnic group and has a weekly market that is frequented by local traders as well as tourists. There are three roads from Turmi to Dimeka, Arbore and Omorate .

In 2005, according to the Central Statistics Agency of Ethiopia, Turmi had 1,087 inhabitants. According to the 1994 census, out of 600 inhabitants, 200 were Amharen , 75 Hamar, 73 Gofa , 59 Gamo , 57 Oromo , 50 Konso , 25 Wolaytta and 61 from other ethnic groups. 316 spoke Amharic as their mother tongue, 66 Hamar , 43 Oromo , 40 Konso , 39 Gamo, 39 Gofa , 14 Wolaytta and 43 other languages.

From January 27 to 31, 2005, members of shepherd peoples from 23 countries on four continents met in Turmi to talk about common problems and develop possible strategies to preserve their way of life.
