The Turnback Glacier ( English for Umkehrgletscher ) is a glacier on South Georgia in the South Atlantic. It is a branch of the Fortuna Glacier and flows in an easterly direction to Fortuna Bay .

The three-man team around the British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton chose him in 1916 as part of the endurance expedition (1914-1917) when crossing South Georgia to rescue the expedition members stranded on Elephant Island in the mistaken belief that they would get to the Stromness whaling station via him and had to turn back here. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him in 2014 in memory of the event.
