Turret Point ( English for turrets headland ) is marked by sharply rising rock pillars headland on the south coast of King George Iceland in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It marks the east side of the entrance to King George Bay .
The cape was mapped and descriptively named Turret Rocks in 1937 by scientists from the British Discovery Investigations . However, since this led to confusion with a group of rocks off the coast, the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee changed the name in 1960 to the form it is today.
