The Turtle Islands ( German  Turtle Islands ), officially Turtle Island Group , are a group of islands in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of the West African state of Sierra Leone . They are located immediately west of Sherbro Island and consist of eight islands .

The Turtle Islands are known as a breeding ground for sea ​​turtles .

geography

The islands are all flat and covered by tropical bushland and coconut palms . In the south there are extensive sandy beaches on all islands. The larger five islands are inhabited by fishermen. The largest settlement is on the island of Baki.
