Tuvalu Media Corporation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tuvalu Media Corporation ( TMC ) was a state-run broadcaster founded in 1999 to broadcast the radio programs and printed products of the Broadcasting and Information Office (BIO) of the island state of Tuvalu in the Pacific . In 2008, however, it was decided that the operation as a corporation was not economical enough and the company was reintegrated as the Tuvalu Media Department (TMD) into the Office of the Prime Minister .

In all organizational forms, the organization was the carrier of public service broadcasting in Tuvalu.

Melali Taape is currently the General Manager of the Tuvalu Media Department (2015).

Radio Tuvalu

The Tuvalu Media Department operates a radio station on AM frequency under the name Radio Tuvalu , which broadcasts from the main atoll Funafuti . In 2011, the Japanese government gave the funds to build a new broadcast studio. The installation of better transmission equipment allows Radio Tuvalu to be heard on all nine of Tuvalu's atolls. The new radio transmitter replaced the FM radio service for the Outer Islands and provided satellite bandwidth for mobile phone services.

The station broadcasts programs three times a day. When Radio Tuvalu is not broadcasting, the BBC broadcasts programs .

Radio Tuvalu will broadcast special broadcasts during the elections.

Magazines

Tuvalu Echoes was a weekly newspaper published by BIO from 1983 and subsequently by TMC . The sheet was in English and Tuvaluan in A4 format. Sikuleo o Tuvalu was a newsletter in Tuvaluan that was first published in 1983. The publication ended with the printer malfunctioning and lack of paper and ink in 2007.

Fenui - news from Tuvalu is a freely accessible digital publication of the Tuvalu Media Department, which is sent to subscribers and is linked to a Facebook page.
