The Tuzla class ( Turkish : Yeni Tip Karakol Botu ) is a patrol boat class of the Turkish Navy . It is named after the Istanbul district of Tuzla . The ships were designed and built for use in coastal waters. The Tuzla class is built by the Dearsan shipyard in Istanbul .

On August 23, 2007, a contract for the construction of 16 new types of patrol boats by 2015 was signed between the State Secretariat for the Defense Industry and Dearsan Gemi İnşaat Sanayii A.Ş. completed. Eight ships had been handed over to the Turkish Navy by 2013. A total of 204 Turkish companies are involved in the construction of the ships. While the Turkish armaments industry's participation in the Ada class was 65 percent, the Tuzla class had a percentage of 67.5 percent.
