Tweetbot is a third party - client for the social network Twitter . The program is available in two different versions for iOS ( iPhone , touch iPod and iPad ) and OS X .

history

Tweetbot was originally founded on April 14, 2011 by Tapbots, LLC. released for the iPhone in the App Store. The app is constantly being improved through updates . Tweetbot's range of functions includes the ability to switch between multiple Twitter accounts, see preview images of images and YouTube videos in the timeline and receive push notifications .

On February 8, 2012, a specially adapted version for the iPad was released. The different versions are synchronized via Apple's iCloud so that tweets can be displayed as read on all devices.

In June 2012, an alpha version for OS X was announced. A final version of Tweetbot for Mac has been available since October 18, 2012 . The program includes all the basic functions of the iOS app.

In October 2013, “Tweetbot 3” was released for the iPhone. The app has a design adapted to iOS 7. This version is not a free update for the previous Tweetbot version, but has to be purchased again.

On October 1st, 2015, Tapbots published “Tweetbot 4”. The app requires iOS 9 and is for the first time a universal app that runs on both the iPhone and the iPad. New functions include a new statistics view, a new view with multiple columns, multitasking on the iPad and a new design for user profiles. The sale of the iPad variant has been discontinued. The latest version is Tweetbot 5.

Tweetbot received mostly positive reviews from critics. The Mac version is recognized as the best desktop Twitter client. The iOS version is also impressive. The large range of functions and a great design are usually praised.
