The FC 02 Schedewitz was a German football club based in Zwickau district Schedewitz . It was founded in 1902 and was renamed FC 02 Zwickau in 1924 . The association was dissolved in 1939 through the merger with SC 1905 Zwickau to form SG Zwickau .
history
FC 02 Schedewitz was founded in 1902 in the then still independent city of Schedewitz . On a sporting level, the club operated from 1912 within the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs in the Gau West Saxony . In the 1916/17 season , the club won the Gauliga Westsachsen and qualified for the finals at the Central German Championship . In the last sixteen, the Zwickau met Chemnitz BC . The team lost the game 5-1.
After Schedewitz was incorporated into Zwickau in 1923, the club was renamed FC 02 Zwickau in 1924. After no further successes worth mentioning, the club decided to merge with SC 1905 Zwickau to form SG Zwickau and the club FC 02 Schedewitz was dissolved.

Succession
The most successful period in sport began with the merger to form SG Zwickau on May 12, 1939. In 1943 he was promoted to the Gauliga Sachsen , in which the SG Zwickau already brought in the Saxon runner-up in the opening season behind the Dresdner SC . In the following year, the club entered the Gauliga again briefly in the Westsachsen-Zwickau group until 1945, but the game was stopped prematurely due to the war. The SG Zwickau was dissolved in 1945.
After German reunification , the newly founded FC 02 Zwickau took over the football legacy of FC 02 Schedewitz and SG Zwickau. The club currently plays in the 2nd district class in Zwickau
