history

In 1895, Jakob Twerenbold, a former coachman at the Grand Hotel in Baden , founded a truck stop based in Ennetbaden . In addition to spa guests at the thermal baths , he also transported wood, furniture and gravel. In 1919, an Arbenz truck with tires heralded the start of motorization. In 1925 the first Saurer was added, which could be used as a truck and car. The second generation with the brothers Hans, Josef and Walter transferred the business to the Twerenbold AG brothers in 1937. The upswing began after the war. Initially with five coaches, they headed for excursion destinations in Switzerland and later abroad. At the same time, Twerenbold built up a taxi business.

In 1969 the sole shareholder Werner Twerenbold took over the business and had Twerenbold Reisen & Transport - AG (today's Twerenbold Service AG) entered in the commercial register. In 1985, the Geissmann company in Hägglingen joined the group with their Postbuses , and later the tour operators Reisebüro Mittelthurgau, Imbach and Vögele Reisen. Werner Twerenbold increased sales within 40 years from 3 to over 120 million francs. Werner Twerenbold was honored with the “Travel Manager Personality Award” and the SVC Entrepreneur Award Northern Switzerland in 2011. In 2015 he died in an accident. He was succeeded by his son Karim Twerenbold. Karim Twerenbold has been with the company since 2011. He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2016.
