The Twin Falls (also called Gungkurdul ) are located in the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory , Australia . They are located near the eastern limit of the park, about 80 km south of Jabiru . The falls are formed by a left tributary of Jim Jim Creek , which in turn flows into the South Alligator River . They can be reached via a narrow path (approx. 60 km from the Kakadu Highway ). The path may only be used with four-wheel drive vehicles and leads past the Jim Jim Falls .

From Jim Jim Campingground, it is approximately 12 km to the parking lot at Twin Falls. Right at the beginning, Jim Jim Creek has to be crossed by vehicle. A hiking trail leads from the parking lot into the gorge. The rear part of the gorge cannot be crossed on foot. Swimming in the gorge has not been permitted since 2003, as saltwater crocodiles regularly swim as far as the stilling basin of the waterfalls during the rainy season. Nowadays visitors are brought up to the waterfalls in a small motor boat.

The gorge and waterfalls are among the most beautiful spots in the Kakadu National Park. They can only be viewed in the dry season , when of course they have considerably less water. There is a white sandy beach at the base of the falls and a narrow path leads up to the top of the Twin Falls.
