The Two Step Cliffs ( English for two-step cliffs ) are 680  m high cliffs on the east side of a mountain with a flattened peak on the West Antarctic Alexander I Island . They rise immediately east of the Mars glacier on the east coast of the island.

They were first sighted and photographed during an overflight on November 23, 1935 by the American polar explorer Lincoln Ellsworth . These aerial photographs were used by the US cartographer WLG Joerg for an initial mapping. Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill carried out a survey in 1936 . Participants of the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941) named the formation as Two Step Mountain . This descriptive name was transferred to the form it is valid today following a further survey by the Falklands Islands Dependencies Survey in 1949.
