Tychicus
Tychicus is an early Christian mentioned in the New Testament. There he appears as the companion of the Apostle Paul .
The Acts of the Apostles ( Acts 20.4 EU ) reports that the homeland of Tychicus was the province of Asia . The passage also documents that Tychicus accompanied Paul on his third missionary journey. That Tychicus was a close confidante of Paul is through the mention of Tychicus in the letter to the Colossians ( Col 4,7 EU ), in the letter to the Ephesians ( Eph 6,21 EU ), in the 2nd Timothy ( 2 Tim 4:12 EU ) and in the letter of Titus ( Tit 3.12 EU ) occupied. Tychicus himself brought the letters to the Colossians and the Ephesians to the corresponding Christian communities. In Rome too , Tychicus, whom Paul calls his “dear brother, faithful servant and fellow servant in the Lord”, was at his side.
Nothing certain is known about the later fate of Tychicus. Several cities claim him as one of their early bishops, such as Chalcedon , Colophon and the Cypriot Neapolis ( Limassol ). In a writing from the 7th century about Saint Auxibius it is reported that Herakleidios, as Archbishop of Cyprus, installed Tychicus as Bishop of Neapolis. Tychicus is venerated as a saint ; his feast day is April 29th .
