The Reiskirchen local history museum at Oberdorfstraße 19, often referred to as the Hirtenhaus local history museum , is a local history museum in the central Hessian community of Reiskirchen . The museum is housed in the former community house, in which the local shepherd could live free of charge during winter . In several rooms, the museum shows objects, furniture, crockery and clothing from the daily life of a Central Hessian farmer from the 18th and 19th centuries.

The Heimatmuseum also deals with the history of the Reiskirchen community from its founding in 975 to its eventful time during the Second World War, when the Gießen-Fulda Reichsautobahn, the predecessor of today's A5 , was built by the German Labor Front .

There is also a large collection of Central Hessian furniture and embroidery in the Reiskirchen local history museum.
