The Tydeus painter was one of the most important and at the same time the last important vase painters of the late phase of the black-figure style in Corinth . He mainly painted amphorae , craters , lekythe and oinochoen . The painter's most important works can be found on red-ground neck amphoras , including a picture of the killing of the naked Ismene on the vase of names . On a second amphora in Paris he shows the fight between Theseus and the Minotaur . Otherwise he does not show any representations from mythology , he prefers combat depictions of riders and comasts , as well as animals and mythical creatures. Characteristic for his work are the rich use of opaque red and opaque white as well as the numerous name inscriptions. The distinction to stylistically related painters has not yet been completely successful.
