The Tyndall Mountains are a mountain range on the Loubet coast of Graham Land in the north of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the center of the Arrowsmith Peninsula, they rise immediately south of the Avsyuk Glacier .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped them using surveys and aerial photographs from 1948 to 1959. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them on September 23, 1960 after the Irish climber and surveyor John Tyndall (1820-1893), a pioneer of glaciology .
