Tyne Stop Line

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tyne Stop Line was a British during the Second World War created line of defense .

This defense system runs in the Red Valley in Northumberland and from there to Newcastle upon Tyne . It was erected against a potential German landing, which, unlike Operation Sea Lion, which was actually planned , would have threatened north-east England from the north. The strategic goal of the defense line was to stop a possible German advance here after it had been slowed down at the Coquet Stop Line 30 kilometers to the north . The position consisted of so-called pillbox bunkers.
