The semi-container ship type Passat is a series of the Rostock Warnow shipyard .

history

The ship type is a further development of the "Equator" type and was produced in nine units between 1987 and 1990.

technology

The multi-purpose container vessel type was for universal use for transport of ISO containers , bulk - piece - and heavy designed. The four holds with a bulk cargo volume of 28,386 m 3 are closed by a standard hatch and three double hatches. Hydraulic folding hatch covers were used on deck and smooth deck hatches in the intermediate deck. Depending on the construction variant, there are container spaces for 925 to 930 TEU available. Various variants of board cranes with a load capacity of 25 to 40 tons were installed for cargo handling. After completing their maiden voyage at the Jurong shipyard in Singapore, the ships of the shipping companies Oldendorff and Dauelsberg were lengthened by 16 meters and converted into pure container ships using cranes. The load-bearing capacity increased to 20,380 tons as a result of the conversion, the container capacity to 1112 TEU.

The main drive is the biggest difference to the "Equator" type. It is a two-stroke marine diesel engine of the type 5 RTA 58 with 7000 kW output built under a Sulzer license by VEB Dieselmotorenwerk Rostock . This means the ship can reach a maximum speed of 16.1 knots. If the power is reduced using a 1250 kVA shaft generator , 15.3 knots are achieved. Docking and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
