Type rating
A type rating ( english Type Rating ) authorized a certain guiding aircraft type . You can acquire a type rating from a training company for type ratings , also known as the Type Rating Training Organization (TRTO). A TRTO must have been approved in Germany by the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA). One of the largest TRTOs in Germany is a subsidiary of Lufthansa , Lufthansa Flight Training GmbH (LFT). In addition, it is possible to obtain a type rating on Airbus , Boeing or Bombardier also from a private TRTO.
The requirements to be able to acquire a type rating are regulated in the ordinances according to JAR-FCL .
The flight training includes a theoretical (usually in the form of a CBT ) and practical instruction of the pilot on the corresponding model. This training ends with an examination that has to be renewed after a specified period of time. Since certain aircraft are sometimes very expensive to operate , type rating training is often carried out in a flight simulator . This also has the advantage that critical maneuvers can be practiced there safely. After successfully completing the simulator training , the base training follows, which involves traffic patterns that are carried out in a real aircraft . The type rating is then entered in the pilot's license .
Technicians from aircraft maintenance companies also require a type rating. This then entitles you to certify the maintenance work carried out.
