Typolexicon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Typolexikon is an online specialist lexicon of typography, especially Western European typography. Edited by Wolfgang Beinert , it conveys basic and comprehensive knowledge in the field of typography.

Its content includes information about the history of writing ( palaeography ), typography , typographers , fonts , font classification , measurement and construction systems, paper formats and others. In addition to the basics, the typology dictionary also describes current developments. The articles usually contain further references. Numerous lemmas deal with the historical development of printing and writing, which is why the typographic lexicon is also an aid for the script-oriented sub-disciplines of the auxiliary historical sciences .

In addition to writing practitioners, the target group of the lexicon also includes historians.
