Tzvia Greenfeld ( Hebrew צביה גרינפלד; * 1945 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli politician and was a member of the Knesset for the Meretz-Jachad . She was the first female ultra-Orthodox Knesset MP.

Greenfeld was born in Jerusalem in 1945 . She grew up in an ultra-Orthodox family and attended the Bet Ja'akov schools. She earned a Masters in Philosophy and History from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and later received a PhD in Political Philosophy .

In 2006 she decided to pursue a political career. She was elected to sixth place on the Meretz list for the 17th Knesset . In the 2006 election, Meretz received only five seats. On November 4, 2008, she replaced Jossi Beilin , who wanted to withdraw from politics, and became the first ultra-Orthodox woman in the Knesset. Before the 2009 elections , she won sixth place on the Meretz list again, but could not return to the Knesset because her party only received three seats in the February 2009 election.
