Fjällräven Classic

The Fjällräven Classic is a trekking competition that has been held annually in Sweden since 2005 by the outdoor equipment manufacturer Fjällräven . More than 2000 participants from around 30 countries take part. Fjällräven Classic is the world's most popular long-distance hiking event and a cult trekking event.

Since 2019, trekking competitions have also been offered in other countries under the same name (e.g. the Fjällräven Classic USA in the USA).

Sweden

The participants run from the starting point Nikkaluokta on the Dag Hammarskjöld -Leden (from Singi to Abisko parallel to the Kungsleden ) to the destination 110 km away in Abisko. The route leads along the following control points:

In 2011, 2,323 participants took part. One of the rules of the competition is that it is not allowed to stay overnight in the mountain stations or in the huts along the way. Participants must bring a tent or bivy bag, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, food, stove, fuel, map and compass, a first aid kit, hat and gloves, rain gear and a warming jacket. The common use of tent and stove in a group is permitted. At certain times, food and fuel can be added at some checkpoints.

The hike in Denmark takes three days and is 75 kilometers long. The route runs over the following sections:

  1. Faldsled-Osterupgaard
  2. Olsterupgaard-Holstenhuus
  3. Holstenhuus-Praesten Skov
  4. Praesten Skov-Egebjerg
  5. Egebjerg-Svendsforgsbroen
  6. Svendsforgsbroen-Bjornemose Gods

United Kingdom

The hike through the Cairngorms National Park takes three days and is 60 kilometers long. The route runs over the following sections:

  1. Blair Atholl -Clachghals
  2. Clachglas-Glen Loch Junction
  3. Glen Loch Junction - Bynack Fords
  4. Bynack Fords - Corrour Bothy
  5. Corrour Bothy - Lairig Ghru
  6. Lairig Ghru - Glenmorge Lodge

Germany

A German version of the Fjällräven Classic is planned in the Allgäu from 2020 .

According to the organizer (as of the end of 2019) it will be three days under the name "Fjällräven Classic Germany" with a length of 57 kilometers, the route runs over the following sections:

  1. Immenstadt - Kemptner Naturfreunde Haus
  2. Kemptner Naturfreunde Haus - Obere Klammalpe
  3. Obere Klammalpe - Oberstaufen / Hochgratbahn
  4. Oberstaufen / Hochgratbahn - Buchenegger Waterfall
  5. Buchenegger Waterfall -Oberstaufen / Kalzhofen
  6. Oberstaufen / Kalzhofen - Alpsee view
  7. Alpseeblick - Immenstadt

Other countries

Further events are planned for 2020 in South Korea, Scotland and China.
