The U-17 Africa Cup 2017, officially the 2017 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations or Total U-17 Africa Cup Of Nations, Gabon 2017 , was the twelfth edition of the continental championship for U-17s organized by the Confédération Africaine de Football . Juniors. It took place from May 14th to May 28th 2017 in Gabon . The Malian U-17 team became African champions for the second time in a row with a 1-0 win in the final against Ghana . In the game for third place, Guinea was able to prevail against Niger . The hosts Gabon were eliminated in the group stage. The four semi-finalists in the tournament qualified for the 2017 U-17 World Cup in India . With the team from Niger, a team was able to qualify for the U-17 World Cup for the first time .
The tournament was originally awarded to Madagascar and was supposed to take place from April 2nd to April 16th, 2017. After the CAF withdrew its hosting rights from Madagascar on January 12, 2017, the tournament was moved to Gabon on February 3, 2017 . The tournament took place there from May 14th to 28th, 2017. The tournament was actually planned to take place from May 21st to June 4th, 2017.
qualification
The qualification for the tournament took place between June and October 2016 and a total of seven teams qualified for the tournament in addition to hosts Gabon. Players born on or after January 1, 2000 were eligible to participate in the tournament. The following teams qualified for the tournament:
The team from Tanzania had not actually qualified for the finals. But it replaced the Republic of the Congo because a Congolese player did not show up for a mandatory test.
Venues
Libreville and Port-Gentil served as the venues . In Libreville, the Stade de l'Amitié , which can accommodate 40,000 spectators, was used, and in Port-Gentil, the Stade de Port-Gentil served as the venue. Up to 20,000 people can watch football matches in this stadium. In March 2017, the two stadiums were confirmed as the venue.
Group stage
The group stage took place from May 14th to May 21st and was held in two groups with four participants. The two best teams from each group qualified for the final round and thus also for the U-17 World Cup in India in 2017 .

Final round
The two semi-finals were played on May 24, 2017 and the teams from Ghana and Mali prevailed on penalties. In the final, which took place on May 28, 2017 in the Stade de l'Amitié , Mali secured the title and in the game for third place, which was played out directly before the final, the team on Guinea prevailed.
