Giacomo Morandi (born August 24, 1965 in Modena , Italy ) is an Italian clergyman and curial archbishop of the Roman Catholic Church .

Life

Giacomo Morandi studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology at the Reggio-Modena-Parma-Carpi Interdiocesan Seminary in Reggio nell'Emilia . He received on 11 April 1990 from the Archbishop of Modena-Nonantola , Santo Bartolomeo Quadri , the sacrament of Holy Orders . In 1992 Morandi completed a degree in Biblical Studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome and a degree in Mission Studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University . In 2008 he was in the subject Mission Studies with a thesis on the theology of evangelization doctorate .

From 1993 to 1996 Giacomo Morandi was parish vicar in Fiorano Modenese and from 1996 to 2012 director of the diocesan office of his archdiocese for Bible study . Since 2002 he has also been spiritual assistant to the Catholic doctors in the diocese and since 2005 Episcopal Vicar for Catechesis , Evangelization and Culture, and later also Dean of the Chapter of the Modena Cathedral . In November 2010 Morandi became Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Modena-Nonantola.

Giacomo Morandi was Professor of Biblical Studies at the Institute for Religious Studies in Modena and Professor of Patristic Exegesis at the Atelier di Teologia Cardinal Tomáš Špidlík of the Centro Aletti in Rome , which is affiliated with the Pontifical Oriental Institute .

On 27 October 2015 it appointed Pope Francis to the Under Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith . On July 18, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Titular Archbishop of Caere and Secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. The Vicar General of the Diocese of Rome , Archbishop Angelo De Donatis , donated him episcopal ordination on September 30 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Modena-Nonantola, Erio Castellucci , and the Bishop Emeritus of Brescia , Luciano Monari .

On July 4, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Consultor of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity .
